Mark PoeppelmeierFounder & solo developer

I’ve spent decades building games at large and small studios. Now, I’m getting back to basics.

Dinner Plate Games is my solo game studio with one mission: to build fun, simple games. I handle everything from design and development to publishing and marketing, using AI to help along the way.

For me, getting back to basics means staying close to the game: trying ideas, playing what I make, and finding the details that make you want one more go.

STUDIO NOTES

Back to basics.

Why I’m building a solo studio around fun, simple games.

Read the studio note

I’ve spent decades building, publishing, operating, and growing games at large and small studios. With Dinner Plate Games, I’m bringing that experience to a solo studio and getting back to what draws me in: making something fun and seeing people enjoy it.

Staying close to the game means more than getting it out the door. It means listening to players, improving the experience, and helping the game find its audience over time.

AI is native to how I approach every part of the work—from building a game to publishing, operating, and growing it. It’s built into how I plan, create, and improve from the start. I’m building reusable tools that I can carry across all of my projects, so each project benefits from what I learn and build along the way.

The creative decisions are mine, and the goal stays the same: fun, simple games worth playing.
